Ceiling Fan Needs Lightbulb - E75795 Model AC-552

I feel a bit silly but here goes - I need to change the lightbulb on my ceiling fan and have no idea how to take the casing off.  There are three screws on the top and even with a "nubby" screwdriver (the really small handled one) I can't get access to it. Two of the screws have channels so they don't have to be removed, but the third doesn't and that one I can't get access to.

Here are pictures of what I mean ... help is appreciated!!!!!

Hello Pazamnik and welcome to the Community.

I would like to direct you to a Hampton Bay ceiling fan help line.

Be prepared with the model and serial number before you call, so they can best assist you.  These numbers can usually be found on the underside of the motor.

Thank you for your inquiry.

You have a few options if a stubby screw driver doesn't fit:

  • Grab the head of the screw with a pair of  long nose pliers and try loosening it.
  • Use an "offset" screw driver
  • If you're looking for an excuse to buy a new tool, you could consider a "bit ratchet".  They're a smaller version of an ordinary ratchet and designed to accept a standard 1/4" hex screwdriver bit.  They're one of those tools you won't use very often but when you need it, no other tool does the job.  I believe Husky offers a set but a bunch of other companies make them as well, from modestly priced to quite expensive.  This is one of the more expensive ones from a German company called Wera.

The nice thing about these rachets is that you can use them with any standard 1/4" hex bit and extensions, there are also adapters to accept ordinary sockets, making them quite versatile.
